Is Our Driving School local?

Our Driving School is a locally owned and operated driving school in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario for over 25 years.

Can I start before I'm 16?

Yes, you can start your in-class lessons and/or online learning a couple of months (we recommend no more than 2 months) before turning 16. 

Can I start the Beginners Driving Course without my G1?
Yes, you can start the course without it but must get your G1 licence before the in-car lessons portion of the course can be scheduled.
Do you have experience with students that have anxiety?

Yes, we certainly do. Our instructors are trained to teach students based on their comfort levels. Please note this when signing up and we’ll ensure to pair you with the instructor that’s right for you.

Will I receive a certificate after I've completed my New Driver's Beginner Education Course?

The MTO (Ministry of Transportation of Ontario) DOES NOT allow certificates to be given. We send the MTO your information if you’ve passed the New Driver’s Beginner Education Course. This information is put on the student’s “Driver History” which is a document that the student themselves must pick up at Service Ontario. You will need this document to submit to your insurance company.

What should I do if I cannot make an in-car lesson?
Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance to the in-car instructor. The instructor’s contact information will provided to students or can be found on our Meet Our Team page.

How do I book a Skill Builders appointment?

You must call Skill Builders in Barrie to submit your information and set up an appointment.

Do you have a motocycle course available?

No, Sault College is the only Government-approved motorcycle safety course in Sault Ste. Marie at this time. 

Are there payment plans available?

We only offer payments plans for the BDC (Beginner’s Driver Course), for both online and in-class. 
We do not offer payment plans for any other services or courses.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept cash, cheque, debit, e-transfer, VISA and Mastercard in Canadian currency. Register to pay online or in-person at our office.

I have a tax exempt card, how do I register for a course to obtain my tax exemotion card?

All individuals eligible for tax exemption are asked to pay over the phone or in-person at our office.

What is the refund policy?

I'm a new Ontario resident, will my driver's licence transfer?

When you move to Ontario, you can use a valid licence from another province, state or country for 60 days. After 60 days, you need to switch to an Ontario driver’s licence.
To get a full licence, you need to meet certain requirements. To view more of the process, visit the Ontario website.

Are there age restrictions for the Beginner Driver Education Course?

There are no age restrictions when it comes to getting your BDE (Beginner Driver Education) Course.

Do you offer lessons in languages other than English?

Yes, our team at Our Driving School cares about the success of our students, we have instructors that offer in-car lessons in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, and Punjabi.

How will the BDE Course affect my insurance rates?

There are many factors that effect insurance rates such as your area of residence, make of your vehicle, and your age. In general, completing your Beginner Driver Education (BDE) Course will take a percentage off of insurance rates.
